Susan Baumgaertel, an internal medicine physician with 28 years of experience, founded her business myMDadvocate in 2022, transitioning from in-person clinical medicine to the virtual medical advocacy arena. While the 2020 pandemic raged, her innate creativity blossomed with the launching of MenopauseMenu, a free resource and blog website providing nourishing support for menopause and beyond.

Always a keen observer of the human condition and a lover of nature, Susan recognized her strengths as a storyteller and applied them to a variety of nonfiction writing venues. Her stories and essays have appeared online and in print on a broad platform which includes MedPage Today’s KevinMD, Doctors on Social Media, MedMic, Physician Outlook Magazine, Physicians for Patient Protection, Physician Coach Support, Washington State Medical Association Reports, King County Medical Society Bulletin, and MenopauseMenu.

When not devoting time to writing or patient consultations Susan can be found volunteering for Cancer Lifeline, a regional nonprofit optimizing the quality of life for all people touched by cancer. She lives in Seattle with her husband of 31 years and is a proud mom to a daughter serving as an officer in the US Navy.
