About

Dr. Jeanne E. Rabalais is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine, and Assistant Program Director for the Emergency Medicine Residency at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Tulane University in New Orleans and her Master of Health Administration, graduating with Honors, from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). She went on to complete her medical degree at UAMS.


She completed her Emergency Medicine residency at UF Health Jacksonville, where she served as Chief Resident during her final year. She then completed a Medical Education Fellowship at the University of Florida – Jacksonville before joining the faculty in 2025. Her background in health administration, combined with her clinical and educational training, uniquely positions her as a leader in both graduate medical education and health systems improvement.


Since joining the faculty, Dr. Rabalais has assumed roles as Assistant Professor and Assistant Program Director, contributing significantly to residency curriculum design, simulation-based education, and resident assessment. She has been a key driver of innovation in residency education, including the development of novel conference structures such as a redesigned Morbidity & Mortality conference, and has championed the use of AI-enhanced tools for resident evaluations, recognized with a GME Innovation of the Year award.


Dr. Rabalais's scholarly interests span graduate medical education, simulation, gender equity in academic medicine, and the emergency medicine residency application and scheduling landscape. She has authored peer-reviewed publications, contributed to digital scholarship platforms, and has presented at national, state, and institutional conferences. Her work has been recognized with honors including the Leon L. Haley Jr. Leadership Award for Inclusive Excellence, the UF Health Women in Medicine and Science Trainee Award, and multiple GME Innovation of the Year finalist distinctions.


She is an active leader nationally and locally, having served in elected and appointed roles with SAEM, CORD, and EMRA. Her service includes membership on the SAEM Program and Education Committees, the CORD County Program Community of Practice, and having chaired the EMRA Leadership Academy. She has been deeply committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion efforts, having led the UF Health Resident/Fellow IDEA Gender Equity Committee and contributing to institutional DEI and mentorship initiatives throughout her training and early career.


Dr. Rabalais has received recognition for her contributions to teaching and mentorship at the departmental and institutional levels. She continues to provide clinical care and bedside teaching at UF Health Jacksonville while remaining deeply invested in shaping the next generation of emergency physicians through her roles in residency education, simulation, and faculty leadership.
