Dr. Brian Barbas is a board certified Emergency Medicine Physician in Chicago. He received his bachelors of science from the University of Michigan before moving to Philadelphia for medical school. After earning his M.D. from Jefferson Medical College (now Sidney Kimmel Medical College), he completed his Emergency Medicine residency at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, New Jersey.

After living on the east coast for 7 years, Dr. Barbas moved back to the midwest as he began his attending career at community hospitals in the south suburbs of Chicago before finding his way back to academics. He now provides patient care and bedside teaching at Loyola University Hospital.

Dr. Barbas is currently the EM Clerkship Director and EM Interest Group Advisor at Loyola Stritch School of Medicine. He has professional interest in medical education, resident-as-teacher curriculum and social medicine.

Dr. Barbas can be found on his weekends off playing soccer alongside his wife, watching Michigan sports or exploring Chicago’s restaurants.
