About

Dr. Alexandra “Lexie” Mannix is a board-certified Emergency Medicine physician and Associate Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a Certificate in Public Health from the University of Florida and her medical degree from Florida State University College of Medicine.


She completed her Emergency Medicine residency at UF Health Jacksonville in 2017, where she was recognized with multiple teaching and leadership awards. She went on to complete a Simulation Fellowship at Rush University Medical Center and John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in Chicago before returning to Jacksonville to join the University of Florida College of Medicine- Jacksonville faculty.


Since joining the department, Dr. Mannix has served in numerous leadership roles, including Assistant Residency Director, Assistant Clerkship Director, Associate Fellowship Director in Medical Education, and Medical Director of the Center for Simulation Education and Safety Research. She has been a key leader in educational innovation, simulation-based training, and equity-focused curriculum development.


Dr. Mannix’s scholarly contributions span medical education, simulation, gender equity in academic medicine, and the residency application process. She has authored over 25 peer-reviewed publications, multiple book chapters, and has presented widely at national conferences. Her work has been recognized with honors including SAEM’s CDEM Young Educator of the Year, ACEP’s Junior Faculty Teaching Award, multiple CORD Research Awards, and plenary recognition at SAEM. She was inducted into the Florida State University College of Medicine Hall of Fame in 2022 and the University of Florida College of Medicine Society of Teaching Scholars in 2026.


She is an active academic leader nationally, having served in elected and appointed roles with SAEM, CORD, ALiEM, and the Florida Medical Association. Her service includes Chair of the CORD County Program Community of Practice, leadership positions within SAEM academies, and committee work dedicated to DEI, mentorship, and faculty development. Locally, she has represented her department on the UF COM Faculty Senate, GMEC, and multiple institutional committees.


Dr. Mannix has received multiple teaching and mentorship honors at the department and college level, including four-time recognition as Mentor of the Year as selected by the EM residents and the six-time recognition with the UF COM-Jacksonville Exemplary Teaching Award. She continues to provide clinical care and bedside teaching at UF Health, UF Health North, and UF Health’s 3 Free-Standing Emergency Departments where she is deeply invested in supporting the next generation of emergency physicians.
