Abigail Schirmer is a first-year MD student at Florida State University College of Medicine in Tallahassee, Florida. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology & Cell Science and Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Florida. Born and raised in Florida, Abigail is a former NCAA Division I swimmer, spending her freshman collegiate swimming and studying at Miami University of Ohio before transferring to obtain degrees at the University of Florida. Abigail's interests include academic medicine, patient safety research, and quality improvement efforts: particularly the quest to further reduce hospital acquired infections. Outside of academia, Abigail enjoys spending time with family/friends/dogs, being on the water, running, orange theory and traveling abroad.
